“Don’t cry because it’s over

– smile because it happened”

I knew that eventually I would have to write this letter but I didn’t know it would hurt so much to do. As of December 13, 2008 I am retiring from running the All My Children Fan Club and the One Life To Live Fan Club. After 20 years of fan clubbing it has come time for me to hand the clubs over to others.

These years have been fun, crazy, overwhelming, exhausting, exciting, and the time of my life. To love daytime so much and to have the chance to be in the midst of it was a dream come true. I wanted to start thanking people but I was afraid I might miss someone so I will give a huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this journey as delightful as it has been.

I have chosen Diane Casale to run the One Life To Live Fan Club. I could not have picked a better person. She has been a participant of our clubs with articles for over 15 years.

I have chosen AnneMarie Donelin to run the All My Children Fan Club. Her passion and devotion to the show rivals mine.

They both share the same love of daytime and I know that they will continue to run the clubs in the way that will be fun for everyone, fans and cast alike.

Diane can be reached at dcasaleoltlfc@aol.com or www.oltlfanclub.com or 908-721-1912 or 601 Salem Road, Union, NJ 07083.

AnneMarie can be reached at amcfanclub@ymail.com or www.amcfanclub.com or 1516 Ohm Ave., Bronx, NY 10465 or 917-355-1505.

Wendy Madore has agreed to work on both sites as their webmistress so we know that part of the fan clubs will also be in good hands.

I have watched the ABC soaps for over 44 years and will continue to do so in the future. The memories that I take with me are memories I will treasure my whole life.  My husband, two sons and two daughters-in-law, along with my many friends, have given me the support that has made a labor of love that turned into an almost full time job a pleasure to do.

Good bye and God bless you all. Thank you for giving me so many wonderful memories. Gosh, I miss you already.

Fondly,

Carol Dickson

Carol,

We want to thank you and recognize all of the incredible work you have done for the past 18 years on behalf of "All My Children" and the past 20 years on behalf of "One Life to Live." You were a passionate and loyal ambassador for the fans and our shows. It was always nice to know that you were there to lead the way for our fans. We look forward to continuing your good works with AnneMarie and Diane.

Thank you for your endless commitment to both fan clubs. Your knowledge, professionalism and enthusiasm enriched everyone. It is obvious how much you love these shows, and we, in return, love you for it.

ABC’S “ALL MY CHILDREN” ANNOUNCES CASTING SEARCH FOR A REAL LIFE WAR VETERAN

AND SHOW PARTNERS WITH USA CARES FOR STORYLINE CONSULTANCY

ABC’s “All My Children,” is conducting a nationwide search to cast a real life Iraqi war veteran to play a new role on the Emmy® Award-winning daytime drama.  The announcement was made today by Brian Frons, President, Daytime, Disney-ABC Television Group.  The show has also partnered with USA Cares, an organization founded to support post 9/11 veterans and their families, who will serve as a resource for story line research and guidance

“Casting a real life war veteran in the role of Brot will give this character an authentic and specific personal perspective combined with a unique sensibility.  We are honored to be working with USA Cares.  Their first hand experiences and research are an invaluable resource for us and insure that we tell this story honestly and accurately,” says show executive producer, Julie Hanan Carruthers.

“We are pleased to use our five and one-half years of experience working with post 9/11 veterans and their families to bring realism to this story” said Bill Nelson, Executive Director of USA Cares. “We hope that this show will help the public better understand the true costs of keeping America safe and the personal price our servicemen and women pay every day to keep it that way” he concluded.

“All My Children” has a long standing history for being the first daytime drama to tell topical and socially relevant stories.  In the 1970’s the show was the first to tell a story about the Viet Nam War.  Nearly four decades later, show head writer, Charles Pratt, Jr. revisits the subject now surrounding the lives of soldiers who have served in the war in Iraq.  Mr. Pratt’s creation of Army Lieutenant Taylor Thompson (Beth Ehlers), his first since joining the show in July 2008, represents daytime’s first female character who is a soldier serving in a current war.

Lt. Taylor Thompson is from a military family who comes to Pine Valley on medical leave from serving on active duty in Iraq. She is delivering service medals to Dr. Frankie Hubbard (Cornelius Smith Jr.) who also served in Iraq with Taylor. While in town she meets Dr. Jake Martin (Ricky Paull Goldin), an anti war doctor who recently returned from Africa with Doctors without Borders.  The show will depict two social and political points of view through these characters as their relationship builds. Taylor eventually tells Jake about Brot, a man she loved who fought with her in Iraq and who she believes to have died in combat. The two characters will eventually find their way back to each other as their respective back stories are revealed.

Male veterans who are interested in submitting themselves for this role should send a photo and contact information to “All My Children” casting director, Judy Blye Wilson, 320 West 66th Street, New York, NY 10023.

“All My Children” celebrated its 38th Anniversary on January 5, 2007. The program has successfully maintained its popularity and continues to be one of daytime’s most compelling dramas. “All My Children” took home the 1998 Emmy Award for Outstanding Daytime Drama Series, the third time the show received this top honor, having also garnered the award in 1994 and 1992. In 2004 the show also received its third consecutive Emmy Award for Outstanding Daytime Drama Series Writing, its third Writers Guild Award and its fourth GLAAD Media Award in March 2007.

Created by Agnes Nixon, “All My Children” premiered on the ABC Television Network on January 5, 1970, as a half-hour show; seven years later it expanded to an hour. Julie Hanan Carruthers is executive producer, Charles Pratt, Jr. is head writer with Casey Childs, Conal O’Brien, Angela Tessinari and Steven Williford directing. “All My Children” is produced in New York and airs MONDAY-FRIDAY (1:00-2:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

*   Hello.  I have watched "AMC" from time to time and enjoyed it but am not really a member of the fan community.  I am, however, working on a project concerned with "Gilligan's Island" and I have seen a segment where Greenlee, I believe, dreams she is Maryann on Gilligan's Island.  What I am interested in is her relationship with each of the characters who play Gilligan and the Professor, respectively, in that segment.  The Gilligan character claims he knows alot about hammocks--which AMC character is that, what is his relation to Greenlee and what is he like, in general.  Same with the "Professor" character.  Can you or another "AMC" fan help me with this info, please?  I'd really appreciate it.  Thank you and continue enjoying "AMC."  littlemonster3141@yahoo.com

Here’s an exclusive preview of the singer's scenes:  http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20201382,00.html.

*Hi there!

You may remember me as "Dixie" from All My Children, or "Rosanna" from As The World Turns".

Sorry for the group e-mail, but it's the best way to announce... I wrote a book! It's called "Conversations with the Invisible"- a book of poems and collages- the first of three- that I have been working on for MANY years.

I have to warn you, this book is an art book that deals with some very adult subjects in a creative way. If you are under 16 or easily offended or upset, please do not buy this book! If you are interested in art and poetry, and creative ways to express your feelings, I hope you do consider it!

If you go to my blog, www.cadymcclain.com/blog there is a link box at the bottom of the text that will allow you to order it or check out a book preview, if you just want to peek! Or you can go to "the bookstore" at www.blurb.com, and check out all kinds of interesting books!

Or here is the direct link
http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/191810 The entire cost goes to publishing, so I'm not making a dime, but I will donate 5 dollars (of my own money) for every book sold to the Christian Children's Fund, in the hope of creating a better tomorrow for a child in need.

Thanks for checking it out, and I hope you are having a great weekend!

xoxo
Cady
